I am a licensed clinical psychologist (New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Israel) with experience treating adults, emerging adults, and families. I trained as a clinical psychologist in the United States where I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. I have worked in a wide variety of settings ranging from psychiatric hospitals, medical centers, mental health clinics, veteran’s hospitals, and college counseling centers. I received a Fulbright award to research trauma and posttraumatic growth. I completed an American Psychological Association accredited clinical internship and post-doctoral clinical fellowship at the New Jersey Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
My therapeutic approach is first and foremost empathic, compassionate, and genuine. In my work, I strive to foster a warm, supportive, and judgement-free environment to help my clients reflect on their struggles and bring about change. Feeling respected, safe, and understood in treatment is necessary to begin the journey, and I aspire to create that space for each client.
I am a generalist practitioner, helping people facing a multitude of problems including depression, perinatal mental health issues, grief/loss, anxiety, life transitions, acculturation struggles, adjustment to medical problems, stress, relationship difficulty, self-esteem issues, marital/premarital counseling, and family conflict.
In my integrated approach to treatment, I work with my clients to deeply examine and explore past and present experiences and relationships drawing from the psychodynamic tradition, and incorporate techniques and skills from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
